Job Description

The Medical Device Labeling Team is currently recruiting for a Staff Graphic Designer located in Somerville, NJ.

 

Johnson & Johnson Medical Device Companies produce a broad range of innovative products and solutions used primarily by health care professionals in the fields of orthopedics, neurovascular, surgery, vision care, diagnostics, diabetes care, infection prevention, cardiovascular disease, sports medicine, and aesthetics. Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices contains key surgical platforms such as Wound Closure, Orthopedics, Open and Minimally Invasive Stapling, Energy, Biosurgery, Aesthetics, ENT, and Cardiovascular surgical products.

Key Responsibilities:

The Staff Graphic Designer is responsible for:

  • Communicate with New Product Development teams to identify labeling requirements.
  • Layout & package design on the Macintosh system utilizing current PC based and MacIntosh software programs
  • Proofread all executed materials as per established company procedures & authorize their accuracy for supplier use
  • Perform on‑press proofing for color standards & content
  • Participate in marketing research & focus groups (customers) for accuracy of design elements
  • Maintain all disk files & off‑site backup tapes to maintain GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards for color, point size, font & complete product graphics
  • Communicate with affiliate plants & suppliers for file / database transmissions of updated product information to support the creation or modification of labeling
  • Develop all packaging / product insert components required for concept approval & components requested by Marketing, Sales or Corporate Administration for feasibility
  • Initiate process improvements
  • Recognize & participate in Cost Improvement Programs
  • Work with or lead special projects, such as: software programs, new labeling contracts or formats, product brand introductions, etc.
  • Participate with due diligence in acquisitions
  • Identify and lead cost improvement opportunities.
  • Active leadership role in key company initiatives, compliance, branding, cost improvement, etc. including transition of package labeling per requirements.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned & not all responsibilities listed may be assigned

Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. degree in Graphic Design (or related) field is required
  • 3+ years experience related directly to graphic design and labeling is required
  • InDesign experience is required
  • Demonstrate strong visual, written and oral communication skills.
  • Medical device experience is preferred
  • Project management experience is preferred
