The primary responsibility of a Special Events Coordinator is to provide high-level administrative support. This includes planning and scheduling meetings and appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files; managing special projects; conducting research; and collecting information by using the telephone, mail services, websites, and email. All duties are performed in accordance with department guest service standards and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet visitors and callers and address their needs, answer multi-line phone systems and direct calls to the appropriate staff/department, distribute all incoming and outgoing mail, and respond to all general e-mail correspondence from guests and staff
  • Schedule conference calls and meetings for office staff
  • Prepare departmental reports as needed
  • Prepare purchase orders for all goods and services purchased by the department
  • Examine for accuracy and prepare for payment all vendor invoices
  • Perform other job related duties as requested

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Productive self-starter and team player capable of working without supervision
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms
  • Proficiency of computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.e. telephone, copier, fax machine
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in a related position, or equivalent education and experience

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working in a similar resort setting
