Our global corporate affairs and communications department is responsible for managing Hilton’s corporate reputation, brand communications, and fostering positive relations with federal, state, and local governments, associations and influencers.
What will I be doing?
As a part of the Communications & External Affairs function, the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications (Reputation Management) will be a senior member of the team helping to protect and improve Hilton’s reputation. You will engage with parts of the organization to develop coordinated responses to enterprise-level issues affecting Hilton’s business and reputation-impacting incidents at Hilton’s properties. You will be central to Hilton’s crisis and issue communications capability, lead the strategy for social media issue response, provide oversight of external communication policies, and represent Hilton with key external audiences including the media. Your real-time advice on partner management and messaging will guide both business leaders and your global communications colleagues!
More specifically, you will:
- Engage with media as company spokesperson on real-time incidents and sensitive topics
- Develop issues-based social media strategy guidelines for the enterprise, closely collaborating Social Media Team
- Act as real-time counsel for regional communications colleagues for property-level incidents
- Evolve global crisis communications playbook and resources for hotels and corporate audiences
- Own development of virtual issues/crisis training program for key internal audiences
- Partner with Corporate Responsibility, Human Resources, and Legal teams to create proactive and reactive messaging strategies for issue areas
- Work closely with Hilton Effect Foundation on disaster response activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the priorities of Communications & External Affairs including recovery marketing, data privacy, and inclusive sustainable growth
- Lead all aspects of the company’s Communications policies in order to guide external business engagement
What are we looking for?
The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:
- A strategic thinker with the ability to quickly absorb and compile disparate information
- Demonstrated experience with media relations and corporate positioning supporting sensitive or high-profile topics
- Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to independently lead several priority items or partners simultaneously
- Problem solver, who can resolve issues effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of flexibility, confidentiality, professionalism and integrity
- Confidence providing counsel to senior executives and colleagues while working on cross-functional teams
- Discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Excellent presentation, public speaking and written communication skills
To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
- Six (6) years of professional experience in public relations, communications, social media strategy, corporate responsibility, public affairs or crisis/issues management
- Experience within a large global organization and/or a top-tier communications agency
- Demonstrated media relations experience and relationships, issues-bases social media strategy or campaign experience
- Available to work outside typical business hours
It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree or MA/MS Master’s Degree in public relations, communications, social media or issues management
- Seven (7) years in public relations, communications, social media, or issues management
- Established media relationships
