Job Description
The Product Manager Intern will be responsible for assisting with strategy, roadmap, and feature definition within the Devices Building Blocks team including interfacing with senior product managers, UX designers, engineering teams, marketing and other teams to define and deliver compelling products to the market.
The Product Manager Intern analyzes market and competitive conditions and participates as part of the team that lays out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on addressing customer problems. The role of the product manager spans many activities from strategic to tactical and provides cross-functional leadership—bridging gaps within the company between different functions, especially between development, sales and marketing, and support.
The Product Manager Intern helps the team to define the ‘why’, ‘what,’ and ‘when’ of the product that the development team will build.
Product Management Intern responsibilities include:
Product Vision and Strategy
The Product Manager Intern is responsible for being a key contributing member of the team, by defining customer problems and contributing to a product vision and strategy. Their job is to collect input and articulate the business value to the product team so together they can develop the intent behind the new product or product release.
- Identify customer needs and market requirements
- Evaluate competitive products and solutions
- Help the team to define financial goals
- Help the team to create business plans and proposals for new initiatives
Product Execution
Product managers must plan for what their teams will deliver and set expectations for when they will need to deliver it. The Product Manager Intern works with senior level product managers to define a vision and roadmap for their products, and the product team to define a release plan.
- Helps the team to define market offer structure and pricing
- Make products orderable and deliverable
- Support implementation of training, support and deployment requirements
- Identify risks and help to resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
Desired Requirements:
- Familiarity with business or business management
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a necessity
- Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences
- Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems
- Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback
- Strong ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that can be understood by developers as well as non-technical staff Ability to research and analyze project requirements from various stakeholders
- Ability to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data.
- Build consensus among stakeholders
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to multi-task among various assignments
- Understanding business management tools such Jira, Google Docs, MS Office
